How many people go on a tour?
Our day tours run with as few as one rider.
Our Scottish tours run with a minimum of four riders to a maximum of eight riders and their pillions.
Do I need to bring a map?
We use the drop off system so that a map isn’t required. However for your piece of mind, a laminated daily map will be given to each rider if required with information on stops and overnight accommodation, including telephone numbers.
How does the group keep to the same route?
We use the “drop off system”, which provides a series of moveable markers for all the riders to follow, irrespective of any gaps which have occurred in the ride. It allows each rider to ride at their own pace without worrying about keeping up, getting lost or which direction to take.
The group will have a designated ride leader and back marker who do not change positions. This will be either Simon or Anna. Wherever there is a change in direction at junction or roundabout, the moveable marker (who is the second rider and behind the ride leader) should pull in at the side of the road. This should be in a safe place, where they do not put themselves at risk and where they will be visible to the rest of the riders, so the direction can be indicated to all following. This moveable marker then joins the rear of the group in front of the back marker. There is now a new second rider who will be instructed to pull in if any new change of direction is required.
How far will we ride each day?
Again this varies per tour from 60 miles daily to 250 / 300 miles daily (300 miles only as a one-off). Please ring us for more information about specific tour distances.
What documents should I have?
It goes without saying that insurance, road tax and MOT if applicable should be current. For your piece of mind we strongly recommend breakdown cover and holiday insurance.
Do I have to dress for dinner?
Although we’re aware that there may be limited packing space, we do ask that smart-casual dress code is applied for evening meals.
